With this issue we complete twenty-five years of Upstate Dim Sum.
Surely, something to celebrate. We are aware of and grateful for the
good fortune that has brought us together in this extraordinary creative project.
This issue also marks the threshold of significant change in the man-
ner by which we will go forward in 2026. Throughout the life of our
publication, we have benefitted from the professionalism of Vincy’s
Printing in Rotterdam, New York. This relationship grew from an ex-
isting partnership with our co-founder, Hilary Tann, who used Vincy’s
services in the course of her work as a Union College professor. Tony,
Don and everyone at Vincy’s have taken good care of us and we will
miss them.
We had hoped to be specific about how you can continue to follow
Upstate Dim Sum, starting next year. The process of answering that
question has proven more complex than we anticipated. As soon as we have the information, we will post it on our website (https://upstate-dim-sum.com/). And I will write to each current subscriber.
This being a special occasion, we have taken a unique approach with
this issue’s guest poet. For the first time, we are featuring a poet who
was previously featured. Ion Codrescu was our guest in the autumn
2003 issue. Since then, he has become a permanent contributor. Living in Constanta, Romania, he cannot attend our monthly sessions but his haiga have graced these pages continuously since 2006. We are grateful to have the contributions of an internationally celebrated poet and artist. And even more grateful for Ion’s friendship.
Finally, we want to express our appreciation for the support of our
readers, many of whom have been following Upstate Dim Sum for all or most of the past twenty-five years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
